Articles of Association of Studenti Ústavu jižní a centrální Asie FF UK, z. s.

Basic Provisions

  1. The society of students, alumnis and friends of the Institute of South and Central Asia, Faculty of Arts, Charles Universit (the "Society") is a voluntary non-political and non-religious society in accordance to Czech Law Nº 89/2012 Sb., the Civil Code, as amended (the "Civil Code").
  2. The name of the Society is Studenti Ústavu jižní a centrální Asie FF UK, z. s.
  3. The Society is registered in Prague.

Purpose and Goals

  1. The purpose of the Society is to support the students of the Institute of South and Central Asia FA CU (the "ISCA FA CU") in their studies and research in the pursuit of advancement of Czech Indian studies, Indonesian studies, Mongolian studies, Tibetan studies and other fields in the region of south and central Asia.
  2. Principal activities of the society include:
    1. supporting student and graduate projects in Czech Republic and abroad,
    2. supporting field research and trips of students abroad,
    3. hosting and organizing lectures, seminars, conferences and social events,
    4. publishing promotional materials and academic publications,
    5. popularization of studies focusing on the area of south and central Asia to the general public,
    6. promoting the ISCA FA CU within the Czech Republic as well as abroad, cooperating with various research, academic and cultural organizations, similar societies and other institutions and societies in the Czech Republic as well as abroad.
  3. In order to support its principal activities and responsible use of its property, the Society can undertake secondary activities including trading and other for-profit activities.

Rights and duties of members

  1. The membership in the Society is voluntary and can be either regular or honorary.
  2. A regular membership commences with the consensus of the Board to make a natural or a legal person a member of the Society based on a written or electronic application and the payment of membership fees.
  3. A honorary membership commences with the agreement of the Members Assembly to a proposal to award such membership.
  4. A regular member of the Society has the following rights:
    1. to attend members assembly and actively participate in the activities of the Society,
    2. to put forward suggestions, feedback and questions to the bodies of the Society,
    3. to propose candidates, elect a and be elected into the bodies of the Society,
    4. to be informed about the Society's activities,
  5. A honorary member has the same rights as a regular member.
  6. A regular member of the Society has the following duties:
    1. to follow the articles of association and decisions of the bodies of the Society,
    2. to preserve the good name of the Society and take care of its good reputation,
    3. to pay membership fees.
  7. The Members Assembly can decide to wave the membership fees on case-by-case basis.

Governing bodies

  1. The supreme body of the Society is the Members Assembly. The Members Assembly:
    1. approves changes and updates to the articles of association of the Society,
    2. approves the finances and budget of the Society,
    3. approves the amount and due date of membership fees,
    4. decides on the expulsion of members,
    5. elects and dismisses the Board.
  2. A meeting of the Members Assembly can be called with the minimum of 14 days notice.
  3. The staturory body of the Society is the Board consisting of three members. The Board:
    1. calls and chairs the members assembly meeting,
    2. decides on the admisison of members.
  4. Each member of the Board represents the Society individually.
  5. The bodies of the Society can also meet in writing or electronically.

Final Provisions

  1. In the event of dissolving the Society with liquidation, the liquidator offers the liquidation balance to the ISCA FA CU. Should that prove not possible or not in line with the primary activities of the Society, the liquidator offers the liquidation balance to the Oritental Institute, Czech Academy of Sciences. Should that prove not possible or not in line with the primary activities of the Society, the luqidation balance will be dealt with according to § 272 of the Civil Code.
  2. Unless stated otherwise, the organization and activities of the Society are governed by the provisions of the Civil Code.
